30 km north of Burgas. It is advantageously located away from railways, highways and large cities, so the legal Blue Flag goes to the resort every year without any questions. It's Bulgaria's largest resort - with over 800 hotels - so it's definitely busy during the season.

Sunny Beach is well suited for holidays with children: a calm shallow bay with a gentle bottom, many children's pools, playgrounds with swings, slides and other things, fun games and competitions with prizes and children's discos are constantly held. In 2003, a water park opened 10 km from the resort. In addition, hotels are located along the coast, and you don’t need to go down the mountain or up the stairs to get to the sea. In addition, Sunny Beach is loved by young people, for whom all the conditions have been created for their “breakaway”: modern discos and nightclubs attract a cheerful crowd all season long.

How to get to Sunny Beach

The resort is located away from big cities and major transport hubs, so you will have to get there through neighboring cities - Burgas or Varna. The monetary and time costs of air travel are approximately the same, the difference in ticket prices is 10-20 EUR. Prices on the page are for October 2018.

The drive from Burgas is closer; it is located 40 km from Sunny Beach. Transport departs from the Southern Bus Station, to which bus No. 15 runs every hour from the air gate. In summer, cars to the resort run every 10-30 minutes from 6:00 to 23:50. In winter there are fewer flights and longer intervals. One of the routes towards the resort passes by the airport and a stop 300 m from it (the landmark is a sign with a crossed out inscription “Sarafovo quarter”). So it is not necessary to go to the city center to the bus station, but instead of 20 minutes you will have to wait 40. A one-way fare costs 7 BGN (children - 3.50 BGN, up to 7 years - free), the journey will take about an hour. A taxi driver will deliver you faster, in 40 minutes, but will charge you at least 55 BGN for the trip.

Travel by public transport around the city in Burgas and Varna costs 1 BGN.

From Varna, which is 1.5 hours drive from the resort, it is more expensive to get there; a taxi will cost no less than 100 BGN. To save money, you first need to get from the airport to the Central Bus Station by bus No. 409 (about 15 minutes). From there there are 3 daily flights (at 8:00, 9:00 and 14:00) to Nessebar and Burgas, which pass through Sunny Beach. You will have to spend almost 2 hours and 12-14 BGN on the road. All buses arrive at the bus station in the center of the resort and stop at several other places along the way.

Districts of Sunny Beach

The resort stretches 10 km along the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria from Old Nessebar to Sveti Vlas. Since the town was originally conceived as a resort, almost its entire territory is occupied by hotels, restaurants, shops and other tourist infrastructure. The cost of living practically does not depend on the area; the further from the coast, the cheaper. There are more inexpensive Soviet hotels in the center, and modern hotel complexes in the Chaika and Fregata quarters.

Sunny Beach is considered a youth resort, so bars, clubs and discos can be found in any area.

The southernmost quarter of the city is Satdiona. From there it is closest to the attractions of old Nessebar; on the outskirts there is a football stadium. Further from south to north is the Fregat area. There, on South Beach, the Deep Blue diving center and a popular nightclub are open. Most of the beach activities are concentrated in the central part of the resort. There is also a water park, and mini golf courses along the embankment. For shopping, it is also better to go to the center - there is a large shopping center there. In the northern quarter of Chaika - a more expensive and respectable holiday. Modern expensive hotels have been built here, and nearby there is a large complex with a golf course.

Video test for knowledge of Bulgaria | 10 tricky questions for tourists:

Transport

There are about 5 routes from Nessebar through Sunny Beach towards Sveti Vlas and Elenite. They all pass along the same street, on which all 8 bus stops of the city are located, some call at the bus station. In addition to local transport, regular buses from Burgas, Sofia and other cities stop everywhere. Travel on city routes costs 2 BGN, on intercity routes it depends on the distance - from 6 BGN.

In a taxi, it is better to pay attention to the road - the driver can drive in circles, turning up the meter.

There are several taxi companies operating in Nessebar and Sunny Beach. You can order a car by phone or book online. Due to the great popularity of the resort, the tariffs here are very high, and the likelihood of fraud on the part of the taxi driver is high. The trip will cost no less than 4.50 BGN. This is both the minimum tariff and the call fee, but unscrupulous drivers try to add up these payments and rip off 9 BGN. Next, you will need to pay 3 BGN for 1 km during the day and 3.50 BGN at night, for a minute of waiting or idle time - 1.50 BGN.

There are bicycle and electric car rental points on the embankment. Prices for renting a two-wheeler are 5 BGN per hour or 25 BGN per day, for a small open car - 30 BGN per half hour.

Maps of Sunny Beach

Rent a Car

There are no attractions in the town itself; on excursions you will have to go to Nessebar, Burgas and other Bulgarian cities. Of course, you can get around by public transport, but in order not to depend on anyone or anything, it is better to rent a car.

The roads in the city are not very good in some places, but you can drive. There are serious traffic congestions, especially on Fridays and Sundays on the highway towards Burgas. Parking is paid and prices, in comparison with other Bulgarian resorts, are quite high - 2-3 BGN per hour and 12 BGN per day. Parking for more than 4 hours is paid as for the whole day, so it turns out to be more profitable. Near almost every parking lot there is a large blue sign with the letter P and prices in Bulgarian and English.

The resort employs mainly local companies - Top Rent-a-Car and others. Prices for budget cars start from 50 BGN per day, the choice is small. At Burgas airport it is a little more expensive, but the range is much wider, there are offers from international Budget, Hertz, Enterprise, InterRent.

Communications and Wi-Fi

For those who plan to talk a lot with home, it is better to switch to local communication. The 3 main Bulgarian companies are Telenor, M-Tel and VivaCom. Each of them has prepaid tariffs convenient for tourists, but Telenor has the most profitable one. The SIM card itself costs 6 BGN, the amount already includes 30 minutes for calls to Russia and 1000 MB of Internet. If the starting time is not enough, you can connect an additional package - 50 minutes for 9.90 BGN or 100 minutes for 19.90 BGN. Tariff plans are sold in mobile phone stores (you will need a passport to connect) and at supermarket checkouts. To replenish the balance, vouchers for 5-20 BGN are used, you can buy them in grocery stores.

There is no need to conclude an agreement, but passport data is entered into the mobile operator’s database.

You don’t have to worry about accessing the Internet at the resort, and you don’t have to worry about choosing a hotel with free Wi-Fi. The entire territory of Sunny Beach is equipped with access points; connections are available anywhere - on beaches and streets, in hotels, restaurants, shops.

Beaches of Sunny Beach

The beach stretches for 10 km along the entire Sunny Beach, the width is from 60 m in the south and north to 100 m in the center. For its cleanliness and environmental friendliness, this part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast was awarded the Blue Flag. Excellent for families with small children - sandy surface, smooth entry into the water, shallow near the shore.

Some tourists prefer to buy a beach umbrella for 20-30 BGN in a store, and at the end of the vacation they give or sell it to other vacationers.

All beaches are municipal, entry to them is free, but you will have to pay for using the infrastructure - 7-15 BGN for a set of two sun loungers and two umbrellas. There is usually plenty of room to spread out with your own towels, but some areas are managed by hotels. They are almost completely filled with sun loungers, and you won’t be able to lie down on the sand there. Toilets are also paid - about 0.50 BGN - and are not as common as we would like.

During high season, the beaches are quite crowded. Equipment rentals and water activities are available everywhere - catamarans, kitesurfing, banana boats, paragliding and much more. There are places to eat - there are bars and restaurants on the coast, but everything is very expensive. At night, foam parties take place on the beaches.

Diving

There are practically no dive sites near Sunny Beach. Experienced divers who want to dive will have to go to Varna, Sozopol or other cities. However, the nearest interesting object is located only 5 km from the resort - in Nessebar. Once upon a time, the city partially went under water, and now many traces of human civilization rest on the seabed - the city wall, the ruins of houses and fragments of amphorae.

There are many diving clubs in the region, one of them is on the South Beach of Sunny Beach. Beginners will be able to take their first dive and admire shellfish, seahorses, gobies and other fish, while professionals can dive for fun or take PADI training. In addition, diving centers organize trips to remote dive sites along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

Prices in different clubs are approximately the same. One dive for a beginner costs about 100 BGN, for an experienced diver - 70 BGN. PADI training courses and certificates will cost 500-700 BGN. The price most often includes equipment rental, transportation and other additional services.

Hotels

The choice of housing for vacationers in the city is quite large - hotels, apartments, villas, hostels and guest houses. Although the number of rooms is large, half of the hotels do not have room for the high season six months before it. Prices depend more on proximity to the sea than on a specific area. However, Soviet buildings have been preserved in the center, and it is easier to find inexpensive options there.

The resort has many great deals for large groups. When renting a house for 5-20 people, the cost per guest will be between 10-25 BGN per day.

The most budget accommodation options are hostels and guest houses. A double room on the outskirts of the resort opposite the beach will cost 30-50 BGN per night. Prices for 2-3* hotels start from 60 BGN per day, but this will also not be the first coastline. A little closer to the sea you can find housing for 100-120 BGN, and on the coast itself prices range from 180 to 390 BGN. There are several dozen “fours” at the resort - 100-400 BGN per night in a double room. There are not many “fives”, the price range is about the same.

What to bring

Shops in Sunny Beach sell clothes, shoes and accessories made in Bulgaria, as well as traditional souvenirs. For classic shopping and branded items, you should go to Burgas or Varna; local travel agencies organize entire shopping tours.

Ladies usually take away cosmetics based on rose oil from the resort. Silver is in particular demand in jewelry - it is cheaper here than in Russia. On the streets of the city you can often meet grandmothers-knitters. They create their masterpieces - tablecloths and napkins - and immediately sell them, laying them out directly on the asphalt covered with fabric. Such souvenirs cost a lot, but each item is exclusive. Products made of wood and ceramics will cost less.

For inexpensive products, it is better to go to the Mladost supermarket - prices are significantly lower than in other shops in the resort. Cheap vegetables and fruits can be found at the market.

Honey is often brought from here as an edible food. It is better to buy it at the festival, which takes place at the end of August in neighboring Nessebar. As a gift for connoisseurs of good alcohol, you can grab rakia vodka, mastic tincture or Bulgarian wine.

Cuisine and restaurants of Sunny Beach

The resort has establishments serving local, European, Oriental, Indian, Italian, Russian and British cuisines. The Bulgarian menu includes a lot of grilled vegetables, meat and fish. In addition, you should definitely try dairy products here. Almost every establishment will offer guests first courses. In summer, “tarator” is in demand - a cold soup made with sour milk with garlic, cucumbers and walnuts. Other traditional dishes are moussaka (potato casserole with minced meat and sauce) and catino meze (minced pork with onions and mushrooms). For those with a sweet tooth, they serve a wide variety of delicacies - preserves, jams, pumpkin baked in honey, halva and other oriental sweets.

Those who would like to see the national color will be disappointed by the almost complete absence of mechanics.

You can taste fresh pastries with aromatic coffee for breakfast at local confectionery shops - “sweet shops”. For quick snacks, the embankment is full of fast food establishments - cafes and pizzerias, there are also international chains - KFC and McDonald's. All this is suitable for budget-conscious tourists - a meal costs 10-25 BGN per person. To have lunch on a budget, you need to look for restaurants away from the embankment and the resort center, where you can easily spend 30-45 BGN for two. Dinner for two people in a popular establishment, such as the Khan's Tent or the Santa Clara ship, will cost 70-100 BGN.

Entertainment and attractions

Sunny Beach is a relatively young resort - there are no museums or ancient attractions here. However, the city has many opportunities for active recreation and entertainment, so you won’t get bored. And those who cannot imagine their vacation without excursions can go to Old Nessebar or Sozopol, located a little further.

Travel agencies in Sunny Beach organize trips to Sofia, Istanbul, Balchik, Veliko Turnovo and other cities.

There are several mini golf courses in the northern part of the embankment. You can ride around the picturesque surroundings of the city in a jeep, ATV or all-terrain vehicle. For lovers of active recreation, there are fields for playing football and volleyball on the beach, and nearby there are tennis courts. Those who are tired of the heat can stop by the bowling club or immerse themselves in an imaginary reality in 5D cinemas, and gambling fans can visit the Platinum casino. On the outskirts of the resort there is a go-kart track and a paintball court.

At night, the main street hosts many establishments - from nightclubs with trendy DJs for young people to luxurious restaurants with show programs for older people.

On the beaches, vacationers will also not be allowed to lie idly on sun loungers, every now and then offering interesting and even extreme entertainment - hang gliding, water skiing, boats, banana boats, jets and parachute jumping. The waves off the coast are not as strong as in the ocean, but those who want to conquer them can still try their hand at surfing. For girls there is a mini-spa - aquariums with Garra Rufa fish, and for men - fishing on a boat with an instructor who knows everything about biting on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

Sunny Beach for children

There are many attractions on the beach for young travelers. You can look at the surroundings from the height of the Ferris wheel, go to the heavens on the Slingshot, jump on a trampoline or slide down the slide on the Giant Slalom.

For those who need more than a few small slides at the hotel, the resort has a large Action water park (office site). On an area of 24 thousand square meters. m there are 13 adult slides, including the extreme “Kamikaze”, “Ex-trim” and “Free Fall”. The children's area is equipped with a large swimming pool with a set of slides and a multi-level “Adventure Island” structure with fountains, waterfalls and tunnels.

Not far from the South Beach there is the Sunny Beach amusement park, where there are attractions for children and adults. It will be interesting for kids to ride on trains and carousels, and for parents and older children - on extreme Booster and Disco rides, roller coasters and others. There is also a shooting gallery and a panic room.

november

December

The climate is moderate continental, close to Mediterranean. The weather is clear and sunny almost all year round. The high season is in the summer months, but swimming here begins in mid-May and ends at the end of October. In the first half of autumn, the resort is cooler than in July-August, but the water is still warm.

Although there is no snow, winter is cold and chilly. From November to March it rains more often, and there are practically no tourists here. The exception is those who came to see Old Nessebar. But for excursions it is still better to choose April or October - the resort is quite warm and sunny, and there are not many people.

The beach of Sunny Beach is the center of the tourist life of the resort. The coast in Sunny Beach is a sandy strip with a width of 30 to 100 meters, stretching for 10 km. The sand at the resort is fine, golden, the entrance to the sea is gentle. The beach is separated from the hotel area by natural dunes.

The Sunny Beach beach regularly receives the European Blue Flag award for cleanliness.

Entrance to the Central Beach of Sunny Beach is free. Recreation in areas with sun loungers and umbrellas from hotel complexes and beach clubs is paid for. But you can always sit on your towel/mat on the free part of the beach.

All hotels are separated from the beach by a promenade area. In the central part of the beach, not far from the shore, there are mainly hotels from the Soviet period. Now they have all been restored; only the bulkiness of the buildings reminds of the past period. The northern part of the beach is an area of fashionable development. There are hotel complexes of global chains and stylish boutique hotels here. Most hotels in the north of Sunny Beach are 4* and 5*. In the Fregata area (closer to the southern part of the beach), the development is more modern, there are both budget hotels and expensive hotels.

Story

Until the mid-20th century, Sunny Beach was a sandy desert on the seashore. The Bulgarian government decided to turn the dunes with soft golden sand into a beach. Along with the construction of hotels on the Seashore, landscaping of the resort began - more than half a million soil, a million trees and shrubs were brought in. Gradually, the beach of Sunny Beach became the most prestigious holiday destination for Soviet citizens, and later - a cozy and budget resort for tourists from the European Union.

Infrastructure

Sunny Beach Beach is a non-stop entertainment zone. Almost all restaurants, cafes and beach bars have menus in Russian and Russian-speaking staff. Almost every 300-500 meters there are tents offering water activities: boat rides, jet skis and banana boats, parasailing. Boats depart from two piers - in the area of the central part of the beach and on its right side. In the photo of the beach of Sunny Beach in Bulgaria you can see how developed the infrastructure is.

In the southern part of the beach (Fregata area) the Deep Blue diving center is open. But the underwater world of this part of the Black Sea is not amazing - the marine fauna here is not rich.

Near the central part of the beach there is the Aquapark Action water park and mini golf courses. There is a large golf course in the northern part of Sunny Beach. Nightlife at the resort is represented by several clubs and open-air discos. As many vacationers note, nightlife at the resort is much more active than daytime.

For lovers of active recreation there is a kitesurfing school. For fans of team games, there are beach volleyball and football courts in different parts of the beach.

The children's infrastructure is represented by standard beach attractions: “Slingshot”, trampolines and inflatable slides. Also in the central part there is a Luna Park with roller coasters and carousels. For kids there are fenced “paddling pools” in the sea and inflatable pools with sea water. There are lifeguard booths along the entire perimeter of the beach, who very carefully monitor the situation in the sea - when the flag is red, they prohibit tourists from swimming among the waves.

In reviews of the beaches of Sunny Beach in Bulgaria, tourists note as a disadvantage the lack of showers in free areas and the lack of trash cans. Tourists are not advised to change money on the beach of Sunny Beach and in its surroundings - exchange offices exchange at an inflated rate and often add a huge commission for the service. Some tourists complain about the crowded beaches, others praise the resort for its developed infrastructure and wide selection of accommodation facilities.

Prices

By Bulgarian standards, prices on the Sunny Beach beach are the highest in the country. A fast food snack (a slice of pizza) will cost 2-3 leva, a kilogram of cherries will cost 25 leva. A sunbed with an umbrella will cost from 8 leva depending on the location (the central part of the beach or its outskirts). Many tourists prefer to buy umbrellas for 20-30 leva, and at the end of their vacation, sell or give them to newly arrived vacationers. But it is worth keeping in mind that personal umbrellas can only be installed behind paid areas. Toilets on the entire beach are paid: 0.3-0.5 leva per visit.

It is worth noting that there are practically no annoying wandering traders on the beaches of Sunny Beach. All necessary goods and snacks are purchased in the appropriate tents and shops.

How to get to the beach of Sunny Beach in Bulgaria

The E87 highway runs parallel to the promenade area, across the block. The road connects Sunny Beach with other Bulgarian resorts. Within the resort (line 2-3), you can reach the beach area on foot. But the journey from the southern part to the northern (and vice versa) will take a long time. In this case, you can use public transport. Sunny Beach Resort

Sunny Beach is one of the best Bulgarian resorts

European tourists know Bulgaria primarily as a country rich in modern seaside resorts. One of the most popular is the picturesque Sunny Beach. This ever-changing resort has been around for 60 years. From a little-known place with several hotels, it very quickly turned into a large beach recreation area, where tens of thousands of tourists come in the warm months, ranging from active youth to parents with restless children.

The proximity of a low mountain range covered with dense forests adds to the advantages of Sunny Beach. The air here is always clean, and summer is never too hot. Water can warm up to quite high temperatures. Average daily readings (in degrees Celsius) will not disappoint vacationers:

Air and water temperature in Sunny Beach resort

month water air
May + 16,2 + 20,5
June + 21,6 + 25,4
July + 24,8 + 28,6
August + 25,6 + 28,8
September + 23,1 + 24,7

Resort beaches

It is difficult to determine the exact extent of the local sand strip. adjacent to neighboring resorts - and St. Vlas. Therefore, sources on the Internet and reference books give different lengths of the sand strip - from 7 to 10 kilometers. The width on the outskirts of the resort does not exceed 60 meters, and in the central part it reaches 100 m. The main thing that vacationers value local beaches for is cleanliness. If algae appears here, it is quickly removed.

The sea in these parts will not surprise you with high waves, but it will delight you with its calmness. Thanks to its gently sloping sandy bottom, it attracts young vacationers and their parents. Although entry to almost all beaches is free, tourists have to pay for most services. This primarily applies to umbrellas and sun loungers. Their rental will cost each vacationer from 8 to 15 leva, depending on whether resort guests take a set or each item separately. Toilets are also not free. To use them you will have to spend 0.3 or 0.5 leva.

Entertainment in Sunny Beach

Even too demanding tourists will be satisfied with the variety of leisure activities at the resort. For lovers of visual effects, several small 5D cinemas are open on the coast. If desired, each vacationer can choose a massage parlor, where specialists will help you relax and recuperate. For lovers of active entertainment, there are many different rental offices on the embankment, where tourists rent jet skis, bicycles, catamarans, scooters and even parachutes.

Platinum halls await passionate fans of gambling , "Chrysanthemums" and Colloseum - three popular casinos. Those who, on vacation, try not to miss the exciting opportunity to explore the depths of the sea or swim in the coastal waters with a mask and snorkel, certainly visit Deep Blue, a local diving center. From noon until late at night, young people have fun in the resort's 23 stylish bars and clubs. Among them, the 10 most popular and crowded establishments stand out:

  • and Mexo attract primarily lovers of Latin American melodies;
  • Cabana and became famous for their pretentious atmosphere, large beds and sofas on which you can relax during the day in hot weather, and in the evenings modern tunes are played here and bright performances are staged;
  • young people dance to house and techno in the beach, located on the beach of the same name;
  • lovers of modern pop music will have fun at the Revolution Music Factory, Den Glade Viking or Hollister;
  • hip-hop fans prefer to dance at The Bounce;
  • RooM2 is a small club that is considered almost the most stylish establishment in the resort.

Young people enjoy competing on small grounds located on the coast, showing their skills in mini-golf, beach volleyball or football. If you're lucky, any resort guest can become a spectator of concerts or song competitions at the local summer theater.

Vacation with children

In addition to the entertainment for young tourists that many hotels offer, Sunny Beach is rich in interesting leisure facilities for young travelers and teenagers. First of all, this is Action - a modern water park, successfully built in 2001. There are 13 slides of varying difficulty levels here for young visitors and their parents. Children happily “communicate” with birds and animals in the petting zoo. For lovers of comfortable swimming there is a large wave pool, and for little ones there is a smaller pond.

Several attractions attract young daredevils to Sunny Beach, a large amusement park where visitors rush primarily for the roller coasters, scare room and traditional carousels. Children can turn into young robbers if they go on a sea voyage on an almost real pirate schooner. Teenagers enjoy participating in competitions, which in the warm months are organized on the 400-meter track of the local karting center.

What to see at the resort and in its surroundings?

There are no attractions on the territory of Sunny Beach that will interest those who do not miss the opportunity to explore ancient and sacred buildings during their vacation. Most resort guests sent independently or using excursions to the neighboring one. Here, on a compact peninsula, lies the Old Town, best known for its labyrinth of narrow medieval streets. Wandering among two- or three-story stone and wooden houses means immersing yourself in the distant past of Nessebar.

The town has preserved the remains of several ancient churches named after saints: John, Paraskeva, Stephen, Sophia and Pantocrator. All of them are ruins, more or less preserved. Of the existing churches, only the Church of the Holy Mother of God remains, built much later than other sacred buildings in the city. You can get acquainted with the history of Nessebar and its surroundings thanks to artifacts collected in the local Archaeological Museum.

No less interesting for curious travelers are three well-preserved windmills. Resort guests are happy to take selfies in front of them or simply take pictures. Lovers of natural landscapes head to Kalinata, a large nature reserve. It is separated from Sunny Beach by approximately 10 kilometers. You can go there on your own or by joining exciting excursion. If you are lucky, tourists will certainly meet storks, deer or owls there.

Where to eat in Sunny Beach and how much does it cost?

On Sunny Beach More than 140 restaurants and cafes are open to guests, offering a wide variety of dishes. First of all, this is Bulgarian or Mediterranean cuisine. Establishments located closer to the coast tend to have higher prices. Among the cafes located at the resort, local lovers of good coffee and delicious desserts recommend visiting first The Americano. The choice of restaurants is much richer. Several establishments stand out among the most beloved by tourists:

  • "Chuchura" known for evenings of live music and Bulgarian dances;
  • Star Inn suitable for those who appreciate the taste of real English steaks, vegetable side dishes and meat stew;
  • V "Windmill" twice a week you can see dancing on hot coals;
  • V "Khan's tent" guests are greeted by bearded waiters, reminiscent of the ancient times when this style was widespread in Bulgaria;
  • fans of spicy Indian dishes feel comfortable in Bombay Grill;
  • Vacationers try Russian borscht and excellent quality vodka in Red Square;
  • resort guests can dine in a medieval atmosphere at The Castle;
  • tourists try homemade Bulgarian dishes in "Marine";
  • "Gianni" famous for more than 100 varieties of wine, seafood and authentic pizza;
  • dishes from Mexico await gourmets in Mamacita's;
  • for those who want to visit an English pub, the doors are open Funny Pub, where musicians and rock bands perform every evening;
  • H. C. Andersen– a two-story restaurant that serves delicious steaks and delights guests with performances by artists of the original genre.

Generally cost of dishes in most resort restaurants it is quite high. To prepare for certain expenses, vacationers should familiarize themselves with the average prices:

cost in leva

Shopping and food costs in Sunny Beach

In addition to restaurants and cafes, Sunny Beach is rich in supermarkets. Many of them are located near the coast, which is reflected in the higher cost of food there. Among the supermarkets with affordable prices for most vacationers, Mladost stands out. Here you can buy not only groceries, but also inexpensive household goods, clothing, cosmetics or shoes. Among the supermarkets, there are several more stores located in different areas of the resort and which have established themselves as places where you can buy relatively inexpensive products:

  • "M. M. Market";
  • LIDL;
  • "Mercury";
  • Penny;
  • "Bali".

Among the shopping centers in Sunny Beach, the most famous is Royal Beach Mall. The cost of products and not only them depends, as always, on the specific month. Average prices at the resort are often higher than in other coastal cities:

How to get to Sunny Beach from Burgas Airport?

Sarafovo is the name of the airport in Burgas, more precisely, 11.3 kilometers from it. From here tourists get to Sunny Beach. The simplest and most budget option is a bus. To do this, you need to get from the airport to the southern bus station of Burgas. Bus number 15 will help with this. At the bus station you should take any passing bus, pay 6 leva, and get to Sunny Beach (you can see the schedule), but this is not the most convenient option. There is route number 10 - this bus goes directly from Sarafovo (airport) to the Sunny Beach resort. But tourists will have to walk about 300 meters from the terminal to the stop.

(the beach regularly receives the Blue Flag) few will be left indifferent.

Are the beaches of Sunny Beach crowded?

Yes, there are a lot of people here during the season. As a result, you can expect crowds of vacationers on the beaches, slightly cloudy water, and high prices, which by standards are simply astronomical.

The beaches themselves are divided into paid and free zones. For a sunbed or umbrella you will be asked from 8 to 12 leva. Toilets, by the way, are also paid and cost from 0.3 to 0.5 leva.

There are also advantages. Compared to our beaches, Bulgaria is very clean. It is not customary here to come with beer; there are watermelons or sunflower seeds by the sea. Also, no one on the beach sells shrimp, mussels, baklava or leather bags. In general, the beaches of SB are quite quiet and calm.

I would like to note that amenities on the beaches are not available everywhere and there are much fewer of them than expected from a European and modern country.

We would not like to relax on the beaches of Sunny Beach, primarily because the walk to it from the hotel usually takes a very long time and under the scorching sun.

Walking along the sandy beach of Sunny Beach is a little difficult - your feet often just get stuck in the sand.

In the evenings, the beaches of Sunny Beach are actively cleaned of all debris and algae.

Where there are spacious empty beaches in Sunny Beach

Unfortunately, they are not available anywhere. To take a break from a large number of people, you will have to go either on foot, by train or by boat, taxis are very expensive) or rent a car.

The most popular fast food on the beach - a piece of pizza will cost about 3 leva, and tsarevitsa (boiled corn) - about 2 leva.

Tsarevich, or corn in our opinion, is very popular at resorts. Sunny Beach was no exception.

Juicy and appetizing vegetables and fruits in Sunny Beach attract tourists.

Along the embankment and generally everywhere in Sunny Beach, in addition to a huge number of hotels, there are restaurants and cafes.

Entertainment in Sunny Beach

But there is more than enough entertainment.

One of the many water attractions on Sunny Beach is banana riding.

Dozens of discos and nightclubs for every taste. A variety of erotic shows, foam parties and themed events. All this can be found literally on every corner.

In general, nightlife on Sunny Beach is even more active than daytime life.

The situation is similar with water activities - there are a lot of them and they are offered for every taste, from a banal banana to parachuting or diving.

There are also plenty of restaurants here. You can have a delicious and very expensive meal without any problems.

In terms of Sunny Beach, it is no different - a standard set and an additional 15-20% markup.

The ancient town of Nessebar - a must go and see

Near Sunny Beach there is an old and very old city that is definitely worth a visit. even lower, and portions in restaurants are slightly larger.

How tourists are deceived on the beaches of Sunny Beach

ABOUT fantastic prices, which they may call you based on your ignorance, we have already said. Don't buy anything on the street if the price seems too high to you. Approximate course of the lev can be viewed on almost any page of our website.

Taxi drivers can often drive beyond the meter, charging exorbitant prices. A couple of kilometers before they can charge you, for example, 50 levs, and if you refuse, they will take you there for 5.

It is also dangerous to change money on Sunny Beach. The most reliable way is to use a bank. The course is not the most profitable, but fair. In hotel exchange offices the rate is noticeably worse, but you won’t be fooled here either.

In ordinary exchange offices, which are located at every step, they cheat very often: they can, for example, give old money that no longer circulates, take an outrageous commission, or calculate at all not according to the rate that is published on the sign, but according to a different one - written in small print somewhere in the corner.

There are always a lot of free taxi cars on the Sunny Beach coast.

Sunny Beach has its own bus station. From it you can go to almost anywhere in the country.

Bulgaria is one of the most popular countries for holidays with children at sea. There is beautiful nature, ancient sights, clear language, wide sandy beaches, gentle sea, budget apartments and hotels, including all-inclusive ones.

Officially considered part of the Nessebar community.

The southern and northern parts of the beach received the Blue Flag award in 2015 for the cleanliness and safety of the environment.

Hotels and apartments in Sunny Beach. Prices, which accommodation is better to choose and how to do it according to your budget

The Sunny Beach resort has a large selection of accommodation for a seaside holiday. More than 600 different hotels and apartments for any budget! The closer to the sea, the more expensive the price of housing. In the Sunny Beach resort there is also the following pattern: the closer you are to the noisy party center, the cheaper the prices, while the quiet outskirts with new modern buildings are more expensive. We book accommodation on a well-known website booking.

How to save money and choose really good accommodation for a family vacation at sea.

Half of your holiday experience depends on the quality of the hotel (or apartment) and the service in it.

When choosing an all-inclusive hotel, it is best to focus on the 4-5 star category. All-inclusive service in three-star hotels can be disappointing.
When booking, please read carefully what is and is not included in this service. In some hotels, Wi-Fi, parking, and a safe are paid separately.

Pay attention to chain hotels. They have uniform standards for serving guests, accepted throughout the world, and not in a single country. Among the chain hotels in Sunny Beach there is a representative of the famous Spanish hotel chain Iberostar, as well as a Bulgarian network company DIT Hotels & Resorts, and nearby - in Nessebar - wonderful hotels of the international chain Sol Hotels, which ranks first in the world in the “holiday” hotels category.

And, of course, rely on the reviews of people who have stayed at the hotel. Don't be lazy to read all the negative reviews on online booking site(after all, for some people the cleanliness and quality of food is important, while for others the color of the curtains in the room will spoil the mood))). See which hotel suits your tastes and service requirements.

A room with a garden view is cheaper than a room with a sea view. You can also save money if you take one large room for a family of 4, rather than two separate ones.

If you book a hotel with water slides (with a mini-water park), you can save on going to the water park.

Early booking will also save your money. The closer you get to the high season, the more expensive housing prices are. But there is another “economical” feature - last-minute offers. Closer to the hot season and during the peak of sea holidays, hotels with “vacant” rooms can make Special offers with discounts.

Which accommodation is better to choose for a holiday with children at sea: all-inclusive hotel, hotel with breakfast (breakfast and dinner) or apartment? It all depends on the purpose of the holiday, the length of stay and the budget of the trip.

All inclusive hotels.

If the goal is to rest, relax, soak up the sun and don’t travel too far to see the sights. And also for mothers and grandmothers, forget about pots and pans and not think about what to feed the little energizers, who, after “water treatments” at sea, develop a “brutal” appetite. It is ideal to book an all-inclusive hotel.

We saw price tags in Sunny Beach restaurants. Average bill for lunch or dinner for 1 person 10-12 euros. You can have breakfast for 2-4 euros. Such meals per day for a family of 4 will cost about 100 euros + snacks: ice cream, fruit, water, desserts. If you plan to eat only in restaurants and cafes, then it is much more profitable to book an all-inclusive hotel. And then you don’t worry about going beyond your planned finances.

The purpose of our trip to Bulgaria was a relaxing beach holiday. True, we only stayed at such a relaxed pace for three days (then we were drawn to sightseeing))). We chose the Hotel Tiara Beach – All Inclusive **** with water slides for a holiday with children at sea. We can confidently recommend him.

Beaches of Sunny Beach

In the southern part of Sunny Beach (closer to Nessebar), the first line of hotels is not right next to the sea. (we lived in this hotel). To get to the beach you need to go along the road or through high sand dunes. This is a natural landmark of Bulgaria. The dunes are not developed and are protected by UNESCO. For an exotic experience, we walked along the dunes, but in the summer heat it’s easier to walk along the road to the beach.

The beaches are wide and clean, with fine yellow sand. The water is clear, the children watched small fish. The beaches themselves are free, but for the use of an umbrella and sun lounger you need to pay 8 leva per day each. They resemble beaches, but unlike this Italian resort, at least some kind of service on the beach in our part of the resort (such as a normal shower, toilet or changing room, not to mention playgrounds or beach animation) was NOT noticed.

We relaxed on the beach for free, sat on our towels on a section of the beach free of sun loungers. We watched as representatives of the “sun lounger service” rather unceremoniously kicked out the “free” vacationers who sat between the sun loungers and the very edge of the water. It is striking that on the beach no one sells honey baklava and shrimp (or clothes and bags, as in Italy). It is also not customary here to eat sunflower seeds, watermelons, or drink beer, as on our beaches. On the last day of rest, people settled down not far from us, laid out a blanket, took out beer - ram, watermelons - sausage, and, of course, “sedums”. We listened to the conversation. Exactly - our tourists (((

Bulgarian cuisine. How to eat tasty and inexpensive food in Sunny Beach.

In colorful Bulgarian cuisine there are many dishes made from vegetables. They are stewed or baked, often with meat. Worth a try - moussaka, gyuvech, kyufte, sarmi, yakhnia. Very tasty salads: Shopski, Ovcharski, Lyutenitsa. Famous soups - chorba and cold tarator. Pies – banitsa, katma, tutmanik. Tasty and inexpensive local wines - Muscat, Mavrut, Gamza. Everyone really liked the sour milk. This is a Bulgarian fermented milk drink with unique special local bifidobacteria.

There are a lot of colorful restaurants and cafes on Sunny Beach.

Tips for an economical holiday. Supermarkets. Product prices.

Good advice for those who have rented an apartment and want to take a break from cooking and not overpay in local restaurants - you can buy lunches/dinners buffet in hotel restaurants. It will be cheaper than eating in tourist cafes and restaurants. On average, the cost of such a dinner is 6-10 euros per person.

Supermarkets– a great way to buy not only food and hygiene products. There are also souvenirs and Bulgarian cosmetics at good prices, which are sold at exorbitant prices in tourist places. Let me remind you that 1 euro is approximately 2 leva (or rather 1.91-1.95 leva)

We shopped at Mladost supermarket in Sunny Beach. Here they purchased food, souvenirs and cosmetics based on rose oil.

Prices in the supermarket Youth: magnets 2 levs, rose water 12 levs, brandy Kekhlibar 0.5 l - price 8.13 levs (we saw 9 and even 10 levs in other supermarkets), Traminer wine 5.5 l, other wines 10-12 levs and more, Bread - 0.66 l, cold cuts 1.50 l - 100g, banana 3.25 l per kg, a dozen eggs - 2.7 l, Bulgarian beer Kamenitsa in a 2-liter bottle 2.8 l, wide assortment of meat with prices ranging from 8-12 leva per 1 kg, inexpensive vegetables and fruits - 1.5-3.5 leva per 1 kg. Affordable price for dairy products. We bought sour milk - this is a Bulgarian fermented milk product with unique and beneficial bifidobacteria. Very light and tasty kefir.

There is also a MM market in Sunny Beach, and there is also a supermarket in Nessebar Penalty and next to the highway there is a supermarket Janet. There is a chain hypermarket in Ravda Lidl.

For your convenience, these supermarkets are indicated on the map:

Currency exchange in Sunny Beach. How to avoid being scammed when exchanging money.

We exchanged euros for Bulgarian levs at exchange offices. Exchange rate 1 euro = 1.95 and 1.91 leva. We read on various forums that there are many fraudulent currency exchange offices in Bulgarian resorts. We ourselves have not encountered fraud when exchanging currencies. But we’ll tell you about possible ways to “warm up” tourists and how to avoid them here.

The most reliable way to exchange euros for levs is Bulgarian banks. To carry out the exchange operation, you must provide a passport. (several banks are marked on the resort map)

It is also safe to change in hotel exchange office. But here the exchange rate is usually unfavorable.

In the resort of Sunny Beach currency exchange offices there is “at every step.” We changed money in one of them, without cheating.

What to pay attention to when exchanging currencies, to avoid being cheated. Usually, “fraudulent” exchangers write very favorable exchange rates on their signs in large letters to attract gullible tourists. And somewhere in the corner of the sign (or maybe on a completely different sign inside the room) the smallest font indicates the % of the exchange commission or the “real” exchange rate. At first glance, fraudulent currency exchange offices can be identified by the fact that the sign with a favorable rate does not indicate what kind of rate it is: buying or selling.

Exchange offices whose signs indicate separately the exchange rate for purchase and the exchange rate for sale can be trusted. But still check! BEFORE changing money, immediately check with the cashier how much money you will receive in your hands after the exchange. If everything matches what is written on the signs, you can change money.

Other ways to “cheat” a tourist.

Here we will describe what we saw and heard ourselves during our vacation. We observe the scene near the exchanger. There are two guys standing behind us in line. One is confused, holding a bag of cherries, the second is doubled over laughing. And they speak to each other loudly in Russian:
Well, you're driving. I bought cherries for 50 levs per kg!!! (that's about 25 euros)…

The guys probably just arrived at the resort and didn’t understand the prices))) This is taken advantage of by fruit sellers who walk the streets with bags and offer fruits and berries to “gullible” tourists. Buy fruits in the store and at the market))

Taxi drivers are also a category ready to deceive tourists. A Russian-speaking family from Germany vacationed with us. They took a taxi from Burgas airport for 35 euros. And this family also went to Nessebar (which is 2 km from our hotel) by taxi for 35!!! Euro. The taxi driver took advantage of their ignorance of the area, and when the deception was discovered, he refused to return the money.

Be careful! And then your mood on vacation will be great!

What to see near Sunny Beach. Attractions. Entertainment.

We decided to “dilute” the constant relaxation in the “hotel-sea-restaurant” mode with an outing to the city of Nessebar. This is the closest historical landmark to Sunny Beach.

Old Nessebar is protected by UNESCO. Colorful Bulgarian houses, fortress walls, ancient temples, narrow streets - the authentic atmosphere of a unique ancient city is everywhere.

How to get there: We went to Nessebar in our own car. Within 10 minutes we found parking near the entrance to the Old Town. You can get to Nessebar by city bus (for 1 lev), by boat from the pier, by tourist train (for 3 levs) and by car.

Our story about the trip to ancient Nessebar:

We also took a ride on a tourist train around the Sunny Beach resort. To the center and back. The cost one way is 3 leva per person.
