Are you feeling too happy? Are you sure that Russia is following the right course and is developing steadily? Do you have three potholes in your yard and are you really upset about it? Welcome to Krasnolesnoye - the most depressing settlement in the world.

Luckily, getting here is easy. An hour by train and a little more than 100 rubles per ticket. Electric trains run very often.

For the first time in several years I used this type of transport. You could say that this is what everything was designed for. For me, any railway transport is associated with a special romance, but I rarely use it. The last time I rode an electric train was back when the carriages had ordinary wooden benches with backs. Now everything is different.

It is quite difficult to imagine that someone makes such a mini-trip almost every day. However, many residents of villages located along the railway go to the regional center every day to work.

Instead of the promised 40 minutes, we spent more than an hour on the road. In Krasnolesnoye, as it turned out, there is a fairly decent-scale transport hub. Instead of climbing the collapsing overpass, people walk along the tracks, right in front of the moving diesel locomotive.

What is Krasnolesnoe anyway? This is nothing more than the Grafskaya station, known perhaps to every Voronezh resident. Yes, yes, kitchens are made here.

The most terrible hole. What was even more shocking for me was the news that it turns out that this village is no longer a village, but a microdistrict that is part of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Voronezh! I still don’t understand how this happened.

Nothing happens here, nothing develops, no one strives for anything. This is not the case when unity with nature is a pleasure. Here on every corner there are traces of a lost civilization. It’s as if highly developed colonialists abandoned the once prosperous colony several decades ago. It's a pressing feeling. Many people know that our country is far from the most comfortable. But in their paved neighborhoods, one gets the impression that these are just words. There are two grocery stores in Krasnolesnoye. "Beryozka" - advanced, equipped with air conditioning. The crumbling facade was recently painted. Business is slow here. After all, the main audience is those over 70.

Nearby is the only house under construction in the entire village. Not many people want to build a solid dwelling where in 20 years there will be a ghost village.

Dull scenery sometimes gives way to frightening ones. There is an eerie-looking house on the edge of the forest. In my opinion, it is in such houses that maniacs live who are not averse to dismembering a traveler who accidentally wanders into these parts.

Delving deeper into the pine forest that surrounds Krasnolesny, we came across several small lakes. This is Lake Gryaznoe. The content matches the title. A little further away there is also Clear Lake, but we didn’t get there.

Having already traveled around the country a little, I noticed that each settlement, be it a village, an urban-type settlement or a metropolis, as a rule, has some kind of peculiarity. And if in large cities these features usually represent some kind of local improvement solutions, then in villages such phenomena come from below, created by the people. Krasnolesny also has such a feature. Terrible fences.

I am aware that the average Russian, and especially a resident of the outback, has far from standard taste. No, not all, but most. But the residents of Grafskaya station, in an attempt to outdo their neighbor in the colorfulness and pomp of the fence around their site, exceeded all conceivable limits.

Most of the streets here have 2 names. At first this surprised me a little. “Have ardent anti-Soviet people infiltrated the local government and are now renaming streets named after the leader of the revolution?” - I thought. Everything turned out to be much more prosaic. After Krasnolesny was annexed to Voronezh, some of the streets had to be renamed due to the resulting coincidences. And Lenin Street can be found even in a village in which this street will be the only one.

The village is divided by railway into two parts. One, which we have already become acquainted with, is completely built up by the private sector. On the other, in addition to houses, there is a station, a furniture factory, and administrative buildings. Which part makes me sad more, I couldn’t determine.

Oh yes, there will still be a ray of light in this dark kingdom. The main attraction of the village is the stunningly beautiful railway station.

The building is lined with mosaics, decorated with bas-reliefs of beavers and moose (you will soon find out why) and in general, compared to everything that is going on around, it looks like a palace.

But it's better not to go inside. To get to the ticket office, you need to overcome... something terrible. No kidding. Waiting hall.

The main form of transport here is a bicycle. Each store is equipped with bicycle parking; however, bicycles are not fastened. There is a bicycle parts store on the main street.

But what’s not good is that the memory of their ancestors is not respected here. The only memorial to the fallen of the Great Patriotic War is hidden in some thickets.

Anyone who has read this far will finally know why it is worth going here in the first place. Of course, we would not have gone here ourselves if one of the oldest Russian nature reserves, the Voronezh State Natural Biosphere Reserve, had not been founded here in 1927.

It is located not in the village itself, but 4 km from it. You can get there either on foot or by bus No. 310 for 10 rubles. By the way, on the same bus, if something happens, you can get to the Voronezh-I station, but for 60 rubles.

The reserve consists of a museum, the building of which you see in the photo above, and a huge natural part with an area of 31 thousand hectares. Today, the reserve is home to more than 1,000 species of plants, 58 species of mammals, 39 species of fish, 194 species of birds, 7 species of amphibians and 5 species of reptiles. Entrance ticket to the museum is 50 rubles. Entrance to the natural area of the reserve is free.

The museum consists of very realistic dioramas featuring stuffed animals large and small, birds, reptiles and all sorts of other insects. The museum occupies 2 floors and 5 large halls.

It’s definitely worth the money, and even the second time I found it interesting to look at the exhibition. The condition of the exhibits is excellent, the museum is very well looked after. Since my last visit, they even introduced a lighting system based on photocells: when you approach the stand, the light turns on.

An entire hall is dedicated to the main characters of this reserve - beavers. Here you can see cut-away huts, products made from beaver fur, and it’s generally interesting.

A small settlement has grown around the museum. But you can find other interesting objects. For example, there are two trees that have been growing from one another for 130 years.

And this, according to the reserve workers, is an oak tree - a witness of Peter I. And you can even believe it. The gigantic size of the plant seems ready to collapse at any moment under the weight of the centuries lived.

The Tolshevsky Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery is also located here. It used to be male, and then miraculously turned into female. As the caretaker of the beaver nursery told us, the vast majority of the newly arriving nuns are former street children, drug addicts, prostitutes and those who were also not very lucky in life. So it goes.

And this is perhaps the most interesting, and not the most obvious place in the reserve. To find it, you should go deep into the museum building and turn right in front of the monastery. There is a sign on the door: “For strangers in”, but not for 50 rubles;)

Inside are these enclosures, each with a beaver. Some have two.

An impromptu tour is conducted by a tipsy guard. And although he claims that these furry animals are quite annoying to him, it is felt that he is here with all his soul. He complains that no one needs beavers here anymore, not like before. He repaired the pipe that floods one of the enclosures with his own hands, because beavers must sleep on dry bedding.

You can hug and take pictures with the beaver, although the latter are usually not very happy about this.

Each beaver has its own character. Some just caress the hand, others, like the one on top, snort and run away. The watchman happily said that last year the beaver finally bit the visitor.

The naked eye can see that there are no conditions for animals. In recent years, the population of animals in the nursery has not been growing - there is a high mortality rate. But in the coming years, a new nursery building will be put into operation, where everything will be equipped with the latest technology. The building has already been mortgaged.

We walked back to the train. I recommend it to everyone. There are very few cars, and the path leaves behind a pleasant impression :)

Looking at all this, I just don’t understand anything. Having at its disposal such a gorgeous nature reserve, a city-forming enterprise, a railway - Krasnolesny was and remains the most terrible black hole on the map of the country. A flaw walks the streets, stumbling over drunks. Here it is, Russia...

Story

The status of an urban-type settlement has been since 1928.

By decision of the executive committee of the Voronezh Regional Council of Workers' Deputies dated April 19, 1965 No. 319, the Krasnolesnensky Village Council from the Verkhnekhava district was transferred to the administrative subordination of the Zheleznodorozhny district of the city of Voronezh.

On October 7, 2004, a law of the Voronezh region was adopted, according to which the village was removed from the city of Voronezh and, by the law of the Voronezh region of December 27, 2004, returned to the Verkhnekhava district. Residents of Krasnolesny sharply protested against this, boycotting local government elections and filing a complaint with the Voronezh Regional Court. By a decision of January 17, 2005, the Voronezh Regional Court declared these laws invalid and left the village subordinate to the administration of the Zheleznodorozhny District. The administration of the Voronezh region filed a cassation appeal against this decision of the Voronezh regional court with the Supreme Court. As a result, on April 20, 2005, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the decision of the Voronezh Regional Court - thus the village remained part of the urban district
