Warm Bulgaria warmly welcomes its guests every year. Its expanses intertwine a rich history of cultural attractions and the developed life of megacities and resorts.

Sports tourism in Bulgaria is very developed, because there are all the opportunities for this - modern complexes, mountain resorts and seaside camps - both for representatives of individual sports and club teams.

Sports centers in Bulgaria will offer comfortable relaxation and quality training

Athletes come here all year round, since most local bases are all-season. They are attracted here not only by the developed sports infrastructure, but also by the opportunity to swim in the warm sea and sunbathe in the summer and skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

A big plus in Bulgaria is that it is a country close to us in terms of mentality.

This is especially true for children, since it can be difficult for them to acclimatize to a place that is completely different from their usual climate and environment. But here everything is close and even many people speak Russian fluently. That's why it's so easy to communicate with both staff and locals during shopping and excursions.

SOFIA, September 9. /Corr. TASS Igor Lenkin/. Sisters Arina and Dina Averina and Alexandra Soldatova held their first open training sessions on Saturday at the Sofia Arena-Armeets, where the medals of the 36th World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be played out from September 10 to 16.

In the afternoon, the girls, under the guidance of their coaches, held intensive two-hour classes in the Golden Girls training hall, which was specially built for the world championship. The gymnasts practiced exercises with hoop, ribbon, clubs and ball almost flawlessly. Their coaches, however, noticed minor blemishes, which were immediately corrected.

In the midst of classes, the head coach of the national team, Irina Viner-Usmanova, joined the training process via video conference, and will only arrive in Sofia on Sunday. Especially for her, the girls demonstrated their programs in front of the coaches’ mobile phones, and then listened carefully to the comments of the head coach.

“Irina Aleksandrovna controls everything that happens in the team, monitors the work of each team member,” the coaches commented. They refused to talk in more detail about the preparation of their players for the world championship, citing the traditions that have developed in the team, where on the eve of major tournaments only the head of the team makes comments.

The Russian national team's training aroused great interest - dozens of representatives from different countries and many journalists watched the gymnasts' work.

Evening premiere

In the evening, the Russians tried out the central platform for the first time, where the main competitions will take place. They came out to open training on the main stage as if they were entering a competition, wearing bright competition costumes. They demonstrated a vivid spectacle of temperamental, colorful and very complex programs. The only difference from the official performance was the knee pads that the athletes wore to avoid damage to their knees from the hard pile of the carpet.

According to numerous observers, the programs of Russian gymnasts turned out to be more interesting in terms of complexity, artistic and musical presentation than those of their main competitors. It was suggested among spectators that only occasional mistakes could prevent them from winning the main awards of the competition

On Sunday, the Russians will conduct final training, and on Monday the qualifying competitions for the best gymnasts in the world will begin in Sofia.

About the World Championship

About 900 people from 61 countries arrived in Sofia to participate in the world championship, including 176 gymnasts who will compete in the individual championship, and 215 gymnasts in 36 ensembles. According to experts, the national teams of Bulgaria, Russia, Belarus, Japan, Spain, Italy and Israel have the greatest chance of success.

The World Championships will be held in Bulgaria for the third time in history and for the first time in Sofia. The previous two tournaments were held in Varna in 1969 and 1987.

The chairman of the organizing committee, president of the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Iliana Raeva, said that tickets for the final part of the competition are almost sold out.

"Rhythmic gymnastics fans from all over the world will gather in Sofia, and the largest groups of fans will come from Spain, Italy and Russia. Tickets for the central sectors of the sports hall have already been sold out. For the Bulgarian team, hosting the World Championships is a big plus, because we will play in front of our beautiful the public, and I hope that everything will work out well. I am sure that all our competitors who love to perform in Bulgaria will be happy, highly appreciating the competence of the audience,” said the President of the FHG.

The Russian team won its seventh gold at the World Championships.

Sofia (Bulgaria). World Championship. Group exercises. All-around.1. Russia (Kravtsova, Levanova, Polyakova, Shishmakova, Tatareva, Tolkacheva) - 46,300. 2. Italy - 44,825. 3. Bulgaria - 42,050.

Russian athletes won the main award at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, which takes place in Sofia. Maria Kravtsova, , Ksenia Polyakova, Evgenia Levanova, Anastasia Shishmakova and became world champions in group exercises and earned the highest praise from Irina Viner-Usmanova. The latter happens very rarely.

Shock, shine, beauty

Why is gold the most important thing in the group? Because it was in the group all-around in Sofia that three Olympic tickets to Tokyo were played out. And because a medal in this exercise is an Olympic award.

During the individual competitions, the head coach of the Russian team constantly emphasized that she devotes part of the day to the “individuals” and part to the group. After the end of the competition, she admitted that she was worried about the group, since six months ago the programs were not ready at all.

It’s hard to believe, looking at how Russian gymnasts performed. It's not even possible. What our girls showed with hoops is on the verge of fantasy. Shock, shine, beauty. Everyone applauded. And the score was very high - 23,250. Although the Italian team was only half a point behind us in the first event.

Incomprehensible whistle and perfection

But when the Russians completed the exercise with two ropes and three balls, the applause was not so loud. Moreover, the Russian team received whistles and boos from local fans. This roar intensified when the score was announced - again for 23 points.

This looked strange. However, the Russian gymnasts and coaches very quickly went under the stands - they did their job brilliantly. Without waiting for the end of the competition, Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov, who had flown to Bulgaria, came down from the VIP box to our team.

He went with huge bouquets to congratulate the team.

Everything is already clear, so there is nothing to wait for. No one will be able to catch up with our team, although I was worried during the exercise, because any mistake could ruin all efforts,” Kolobkov noted. - When our girls perform, it takes your breath away! This is perfection. I just talked with the team, with Irina Alexandrovna - how hard these successes are, how much work has been put into it. But this is the highest class, the highest level. Well done to all - sisters Dina and Arina Averina, and Alexandra Soldatova, and the group is amazing.

The Bulgarian team, which fought with the Italian team for silver, ultimately lost. In an exercise with five hoops, an object thrown by one of the girls treacherously slipped past her partner’s leg and beyond the mat. One could forget about silver, but the Bulgarians defended the national team in the fight against the Ukrainian team.

God loves the strong

The girls simply glowed with happiness after the award ceremony.

We didn’t succeed right away. We came up with a lot of elements, then we chose the most interesting ones, and some had to be removed, they did not lend themselves to training,” admitted Rio Olympic champion Maria Tolkacheva. - We have completed our task, and now we can look at the medals - they are very beautiful. And our fans are the best in the world. But now we have come off the pedestal and we need to forget about it. We will perform with renewed vigor tomorrow.

As they say, God loves the strong,” summed up Irina Viner-Usmanova. - Apparently, they saw how and how much we trained at the top. At 38 degrees in the hall for 9 hours. The girls deserved a B with two pluses. They very, very rarely receive such an assessment from me.

The World Championships will end on Sunday with group performances in individual exercises (with five hoops, two jump ropes and three balls) and a gala concert. The Russian team has already won 11 medals - seven gold, one silver and three bronze.

Every year Bulgaria hosts more and more top-level tournaments. In September, the best gymnasts in the world came to Sofia, and the host side was distinguished by both the good level of organization of the championship itself and the absolutely ugly and unacceptable behavior of the fans. About what happened at the Armeets arena is in the material of RIA Novosti correspondent Sergei Smyshlyaev.

My second visit to the capital of Bulgaria in four years further ingrained in my mind the fact that Russia in the former socialist republic is loved just as much as it is hated. The older generation, for the most part, remembers the Russian language, happily receives Russian-speaking guests, but at the same time, at the first meeting, be it a taxi driver or a hotel employee, they begin to make excuses. Just make excuses, you heard right.

Only on the first day of my stay in Sofia, I heard approximately the same phrase three times, albeit in broken Russian: “Don’t think that we don’t like Russians, that’s not true!” And it was precisely this statement that caused more and more concern each time. As one local resident, who once lived and worked in Surgut for many years, later explained, the idea that the Russians are enemies is being imposed more and more strongly on the young Bulgarian generation every year.

Yes, in principle, we are not used to this; in many countries, both from the former socialist camp and simply from Europe, the image of the Soldier-liberator and senior “comrade” (this is how this word is pronounced in Bulgaria) has gradually turned into the image of an “occupier” and “ enemy of the whole world."

You know, at one time I chose the profession of a sports journalist not only because of my love for sports, but also because in our difficult times, I want to get involved in politics less and less. In the end, everything turned out exactly the opposite: there was almost more politics in sports than in other areas of life. But even here it was possible to find an “outlet” by going to tournaments in Olympic sports.

I have been working continuously at the World and European Artistic Gymnastics Championships since 2013, and I have been associated with the artistic gymnastics team for more than two years. And what I encountered in Sofia at the 2018 World Championships defies any understanding. Surprise, shock, indignation - one thousandth of the palette of feelings that I had to experience in just a few hours of competition between national teams in group exercises.

On Saturday, at the tournament in the capital of Bulgaria, it was almost a key day; not only medals in the Olympic event of the program - group all-around, but also the first three licenses for “group competitions” for the 2020 Games in Tokyo were played out. When the Russians came out onto the mat and the whistle sounded, the first thought was: “It seemed like it.” But no. It didn't seem at all. But on this day, our team was almost perfect, not giving either competitors or their fans even the slightest chance to rejoice at the mistakes of the leaders of world rhythmic gymnastics.

On Sunday, judging by the number of people around the Armeets arena, it immediately became clear that the Bulgarian national team would receive such support as they had never dreamed of in previous days. But, unfortunately, the local public for some reason changed the vector of the outburst of their energy from “cheering for our own” to “destroying strangers.”

I don’t even want to think about where this hatred came from, but already in the first final, with five hoops, every mistake of the Russians was perceived by the audience with such undisguised joy that it became, to put it mildly, uneasy. Local journalists shyly averted their eyes, blushing for their compatriots. And the Bulgarian “torsida” continued to destroy all stereotypes about that very normal “sickness” to which we have become accustomed over many years. Even the nerves of steel of the head of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics, who sarcastically showed the stands a raised thumb, could not stand it.

And this, by the way, seemed to sober up the fans, who went “dancing on the bones,” rejoicing at the victory of the Bulgarian team almost less than at the fact that the Russians remained off the podium.

“The audience, you saw how aggressive they were,” noted Viner-Usmanova. “Today, after the first show, when they whistled, I showed them a thumbs up, that they were great. And then after the second show, everyone clapped for us very unanimously (smiles). So the audience was also educated. To be honest, this is the first time I’ve seen this. To such an extent that they stomped, clapped, shouted, shushed, whistled - this is the first time, but the result was good, that in the end everyone passed the exam and clapped for me (laughs)." .

“I really wanted to do what we practiced in training, but, unfortunately, it didn’t work out,” Olympic champion Maria Tolkacheva shared her thoughts. “Now there’s a little devastation, I want to go and lie down. The most important thing is that we won the all-around, especially since there was a selection for The Olympic Games, so we are happy that we managed to win gold yesterday, and we will continue to work. Unfortunately, the Bulgarian fans did not receive us very warmly, but we tried not to pay attention. Both yesterday and today they shouted and booed, it’s unpleasant, but. We were able to handle it."

In such situations, you always want to find an excuse for such behavior. Even then. But instead of justification, the understanding came that only the mistakes of the Russians can give gold to their rivals, and therefore the lot of such “fans” is to rejoice at the mistakes of the Russian team more than their own successes.

Russian athletes failed to collect all the gold at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships that ended in Sofia. On the last day of the tournament, two sets of awards were played out in separate group exercises. According to their results, the team received one silver medal.

By a huge margin: the Russian team won gold in the team all-around at the World Championships in rhythmic gymnastics

The penultimate day of the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships has ended in Sofia. The Russian team won the team...

The Bulgarian public was indignant at the end of the competition - the country, which loves rhythmic gymnastics, has not won a victory since 2014. At the home championship of the planet, everything also went wrong, and due to errors in the group all-around, the Bulgarian girls were content with bronze. They managed to take revenge in exercises with five hoops. The Bulgarians scored 23,300 points - the judges awarded them the highest score at the entire World Championship.

The Russians competed last, and the fans put psychological pressure on them - the hall was unusually noisy for such an elegant sport as rhythmic gymnastics. The noise and whistling did not affect the young girls, but Olympic champions Anastasia Tatareva and Maria Tolkacheva made mistakes. Because of this, the Russian team took only fourth place and was left without awards in one of the disciplines of the World Championship for the first time in four years.

Silver went to the Japanese girls, who are students of the Russian gymnastics school - Inna Bystrova has been training them for many years. Asian gymnasts have never placed second in single apparatus exercises before. The bronze was won by the Italians, who had won the two previous world championships in this type of program.

In performances with three balls and two ropes, the Russians returned to the podium. World all-around champions Ksenia Polyakova, Maria Kravtsova, Evgenia Levanova, Maria Tolkacheva and Anastasia Shishmakova lost only to the Italians - their fans were also very much expecting gold. Bronze medals went to the Ukrainians, who had been achieving this award in group exercises for five years. They beat the Japanese gymnasts by only 0.050 points.

The head coach of the Russian national team, Irina Viner-Usmanova, did not make a tragedy out of the performances of her players on the last day of the World Cup. She stated that winning the all-around is always more important than performance in individual exercises.

“Nothing happened, we won seven gold medals, today we also won silver, everyone has to win something. I am very glad that Bulgaria won gold, that Italy took the gold medal, and Japan the silver, that Ukraine took third place. It is very nice. One famous and intelligent person from the world of sports said: “At the World Championships you have to share, but at the Olympics you have to win everything.” The main days were the day before yesterday and yesterday, these were Olympic events. We performed without a hitch, no matter what,” RIA Novosti quotes Viner-Usmanova as saying.

The President of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation also noted that the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, visited these competitions. After the personal all-around competition, in which Dina Averina became the champion and Alexandra Soldatova the bronze medalist, he congratulated the Russian team on this success.

“Bach was here, he said that we have a great sport. In his speech, he admitted that he really liked our sport, liked the performances, liked the programs. He came behind the curtain, congratulated me and said that gold and bronze in the individual all-around were a very great success. Bach was very pleased with what he saw, and this is very important, because they often say that rhythmic gymnastics is not a sport, there are no difficulties in it. And Bach emphasized that it is very difficult, emotional, and interesting. And most importantly, he called this sport an art, emphasizing that it is combined with sports. Therefore, I am very happy that it all ended this way - and not because Russia is always first, but because all countries stood on the pedestal today. This is a great happiness for us too,” concluded Viner-Usmanova.

In total, the Russians have 12 World Championship medals, of which seven are gold. The next tournament of the same rank will be held in a year in Baku. There, Russian girls will not only compete for awards, but will also take part in the fight for Olympic licenses in the individual all-around. The team is already in group competitions for the Tokyo Olympics.
