Polet Airlines is a domestic air carrier based in Voronezh. The airline's form of organization is Closed Joint Stock Company. The carrier had a large number of passenger and cargo routes. Almost all international flights from Voronezh were carried out by this airline.

Polet Voronezh airline was founded in August 1988. It was that year that the carrier carried out its first cargo flight. The full owner of the company was Anatoly Karpov. It was the first private airline on the territory of the USSR. By 2002, among the services provided by the enterprise there were:

Carrier activities

The Polyot company has provided good air connections with many Russian cities: Moscow, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Anapa, Khanty-Mansiysk and many others.

The carrier regularly operated flights to Antalya, Barcelona, ​​Yerevan, Munich, Prague, Dalaman and Tivat.

Of course, during its existence it had its ups and downs. The company flourished during the period after 2010. In 2011, the carrier's passenger traffic was 150% compared to the previous year. In the same year, the company transported its millionth passenger. The carrier's cargo turnover reached 264,743 tons.

The truly “stellar” work for the enterprise was the delivery of space equipment to the Baikonur cosmodrome.

However, 2014 saw a significant decline in passenger and freight traffic. Airline tickets began to sell much worse, and cargo transportation came to a standstill. Of course, all this led to large financial losses and a large number of unpaid debts. Delay in payment of wages to employees, failure to comply with operating and maintenance rules led to revocation of company certificate.

The company had at its disposal a Saab 340b, a Saab 2000, a Hawker Siddeley HS-125 and a Hawker 800. The carrier also had at its disposal AN, Il and BAE aircraft. Some of the aircraft were also reserved and were in storage. Only 14 of the 18 aircraft were primarily in service.

Incidents

During the entire period of operation of the enterprise in the air transportation market, only three incidents were recorded that were recognized as dangerous for passengers:

1. After the Saab-200 took off on the route Voronezh - Yerevan, some malfunctions were discovered, which led to the aircraft returning to the base airfield immediately after takeoff. The incident dates back to 2009.
2. In the spring of 2010, the glass of an An-24 aircraft cracked at an altitude of 4 km. This led to depressurization of the cabin. But the ship was successfully landed. No injuries were found.
3. In the summer of 2010, a Saab-2000 aircraft flying from Voronezh to Moscow was forced to make an emergency landing. The ship's passengers were not injured, and the integrity of the aircraft was also preserved.

Few people can answer whether these events influenced the fact that Polet plane tickets began to be booked and purchased much less, or whether some other factors became the main reason for this. However, even numerous awards and nominations could not save the airline from further closure.

Further investigation of the company revealed that it could not comply with all operation and maintenance requirements. Because of this, this air operator certificate was suspended. In April 2015, the Polet airline's certificate was revoked.

During the entire period of the airline’s operation in the air transportation market of the Russian Federation, only three incidents dangerous for passengers were recorded. The first case occurred with a Saab-2000 type aircraft in 2009, which was flying on the Voronezh-Yerevan route. After takeoff, malfunctions were discovered, which led to the return of the device to the Voronezh airport.

The second incident occurred with an An-24 aircraft in April 2010, which was flying from Moscow to Voronezh. The glass in the device cracked at an altitude of 4 kilometers, which led to depressurization of the cabin. However, the car was able to land safely, and none of the passengers or crew were injured.

In the summer of 2010, another Saab-2000 of the airline with 49 passengers on board was forced to make an emergency landing immediately after takeoff. The professionalism of the pilots made it possible to save the lives of passengers and the integrity of the aircraft.

Such a bright and rapid rise was followed in 2014 by a significant and fatal decline. Freight transportation has become not as in demand as before. The level of passenger flights began to decline and this is what gradually brought the existence of the enterprise to naught. Problems arose with paying salaries to pilots, flight attendants, and equipment maintenance personnel. Violations of operational rules and maintenance began, which, unfortunately, contributed to the liquidation of the air carrier's certificate.

The company had a lot of aircraft, both our production and foreign ones. Notable examples of foreign aircraft were: Saab 340b, Saab 2000, Hawker Siddeley HS-125, Hawker 800 and the British BAE aircraft. Among the domestic ones are AN and Il, named after their designers and inventors. In total, the enterprise had eighteen aircraft, but only fourteen took off.

Incidents

Polet Airlines was quite reliable and safe among other enterprises providing similar services. During its existence, only three air accidents were recorded that endangered the health and lives of passengers. All three ended successfully; none of the passengers or employees of the plane were injured.

1. In 2009, after takeoff, when the plane was in the air, air transport malfunctions were identified. The plane had to return. He was successfully landed on the airfield. There were no casualties on board.
2. The second incident occurred with the AN-24 vessel. The plane was at an altitude of four kilometers above ground level when its glass suddenly cracked. The pilots were forced to urgently land the transport at the nearest airfield. As a result of the incident, no one was injured; everyone remained safe and sound.
3. In 2010, a third incident occurred. The Saab-2000 vessel, en route Voronezh-Moscow, was forced to land. The pilots did everything in their power, and, thanks to this, not a single passenger was injured.

Perhaps it was these incidents that had such an impact on the airline’s reputation and instilled fear and mistrust in people. Perhaps there were other factors or unknown reasons, but the popularity of the enterprise slowly dwindled to zero. The demand and need for cargo transportation has disappeared, and the percentage of air tickets sold and booked has decreased. As a result of this, the Polet company no longer exists since 2015. Even the number of awards and various bonuses could not prevent and save the airline from collapse and closure.
