Odessa Airport: how to get to the airport, official website, telephone numbers, flights, taxi to the airport, service and services of Odessa Airport.

Odessa International Airport is one of the largest in Ukraine. From here there are flights to many Ukrainian cities and CIS cities. In addition, the airport connects Odessa with air lines to Western Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Over the past half century, the airport has hardly been reconstructed, so the condition of the airfield pavements and taxiways does not correspond to international standards. But despite this, flights depart from the airport to more than 60 cities around the world.

Since September 2015, air traffic between Odessa and Moscow and St. Petersburg has been temporarily suspended as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

How to get there

By bus

Bus No. 117 runs from the airport every 10-30 minutes. It goes through the city center and the railway station, the travel time is about an hour, the fare is 7 UAH.

By trolleybus

Since July 2, 2014, trolleybus No. 14 has been running from the airport. It goes to the railway station and runs from 6:47 to 19:07 (departure from the airport). The average trolleybus interval during rush hours is 16-17 minutes, at other times - 40 minutes. Travel time is 36 minutes, fare is 3 UAH.

By taxi

A trip to the center of Odessa by taxi will cost 100-150 UAH.

By car

For those arriving with their own car, there are 2 parking lots at the Odessa airport: daily and hourly. In daily parking, the first hour is free, then 25 UAH per hour, and after 8 hours the daily rate is included - 120 UAH per day. For hourly parking, the rates are the same, but the first hour is not free.

What to do if your flight is canceled

If a flight is canceled more than 24 hours before departure, passengers will be transferred to similar airline flights. The carrier bears the costs; the service is free for the passenger. If you are not satisfied with any of the options offered by the airline, most airlines can issue an “involuntary return.” Once confirmed by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this can take several weeks.

How to check in at the airport

Online check-in is available on most airline websites. Most often it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the plane departs.

To check in at the airport you will need:

    • identification document specified in the order,
    • birth certificate when flying with children,
    • printed itinerary receipt (optional).
  • What can you take on a plane?

Carry-on luggage is the items you will take with you into the cabin. The weight limit for hand luggage can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). A handbag is not considered hand luggage and is carried freely.

The bag you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, or cosmetics. Alcohol from duty free stores can only be transported in sealed bags.

How to pay for luggage at the airport

If the weight of luggage exceeds the standards established by the airline (most often 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free baggage allowance and must be paid separately as an additional service.

In this case, luggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate Drop-off check-in counter. If you are unable to print your boarding pass, you can obtain one at the airline's regular check-in counter, and check-in and check-in your luggage there.

Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

You can find out the plane's arrival time on the airport's online board. The Tutu.ru website has an online display of the main Russian and foreign airports.

You can find out the exit number (gate) on the arrivals board at the airport. This number is located next to the incoming flight information.

Story

Aviation enthusiast, entrepreneur Arthur Antonovich Anatra in 1908 he bought a plot of land in the steppe, near the military training ground Strelishchnoye Pole, placing workshops there for the repair and assembly of aircraft (since 1913 - Anatra Airplane Factory), a flying club (since 1910 - a pilot school) and a school airfield, which served for training and test flights. Later, the name “School” was officially assigned to the airfield.

The history of the airport in Odessa began in 1924. Then an air station was opened at the Shkolny airfield, which received the first technical flight on May 21, and the first passenger flight of Ukrvozdukhput along the route on May 25 Kharkiv - Zinovievsk - Odessa. A little later the flight was opened Odessa - Kyiv - Chernigov - Moscow, and from the beginning of the 1930s flights along the line were opened Odessa - Nikolaev - Krivoy Rog - Dnepropetrovsk - Kharkiv on the first Soviet passenger on an airplane K-5(the flight lasted about 6 hours with three landings).

From the late 1940s until 1961, the main airport in Odessa was Zastava Airport (with an 800 m long unpaved runway). Since 1961 it has been used to carry out aviation work(primarily agricultural) on airplanes An-2 And helicopters, then was closed. In the 1960s - 1980s, a large number of passenger flights on An-2 aircraft were operated from Zastava airport to regional centers and large villages of the Odessa region. In 1994, the Zastava airport was closed; now it has entered the territory of the Western Cemetery of the city of Odessa.

In 1960, on the territory of the Shkolny state aviation airfield, an artificial runway (at the current location) 2800 meters long, an apron, and then a building was built for the airport airport terminal(since then, the Shkolny airfield (on which the aircraft repair plant and border troops aviation are still based) does not have its own artificial runway, and uses the airport strip for takeoffs and landings). In 1961, the new Odessa airport came into operation and began accepting jet passenger flights. aircraft Tu-104. Odessa Airport was one of three airports in the Ukrainian SSR that could receive airliners of this type.

The main airport facilities, on the basis of which the Odessa United Air Squadron, created in 1961 as an independent enterprise, were built in 1960-1961 (runway, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, aviation technical base, building air traffic control and others). The area of the airport is 570.8 hectares.

The airport complex, whose total capacity as of 2013 is 400 passengers per hour, is designed to serve international and domestic routes. IN 1982 a cargo terminal was built.

Characteristics

On December 7, 2016, I landed at the airport for the first time Boeing 767-300, for which the airport is not certified. The Manchester United team arrived in Odessa on this plane.

The airfield, built 50 years ago, was practically not reconstructed in subsequent years. The main discrepancies lie in the condition of airfield pavements (unsatisfactory flatness and insufficient load-bearing capacity), their insufficient geometric dimensions, as well as the complex longitudinal and transverse profiles of runways and taxiways.

The design of the runway covering, taxiways, aprons and aircraft parking areas is represented by rectangular cement concrete slabs 24-26 cm thick on a compacted soil base, reinforced with two-layer asphalt concrete 16-20 cm thick (for RD-1 - two-layer asphalt concrete 12 cm thick with reinforcing geogrid ). Load-bearing capacity of airfield pavements (classification number ACN-PCN): runway - 30/R/C/X/T; MRD (1 student) - 21/R/B/X/T; MRD (2 studies) - 16/R/B/X/T; platform - 17/R/C/X/T.

Airport reconstruction

As of summer 2013, reconstruction continues. During his visit to the site, the former mayor of Odessa Alexey Kostusev noted that there has been clear progress in the construction of the new terminal. The zero construction cycle has already been completed, that is, the foundation is completely ready. The frame of the building was also built up to the third floor level, and the roof is planned to be installed at the end of July. At the moment, the frame is 50% ready; by the end of the year it is planned to carry out internal work and begin installation of equipment. Commissioning of the facility was planned for September 2014.

As of 03/03/2015, 85% of metal structures weighing more than 1000 tons have been assembled, 100% of the façade frame of the new terminal of the Odessa International Airport has been completed. The construction of the transformer substation and the installation of on-site storm sewerage, concreting of the racks of the gangway galleries, stairs, and elevator shafts have been completed. After completing the roofing work, the builders will begin glazing the facade, installing internal networks and terminal equipment.

As of July 21, 2015, the roof was 100% installed. Glazing of the terminal facade is expected in the near future; at the moment, the installation of racks that will hold the glass panels is underway. After completion of these works, asphalting of the entrances to the main entrance of the terminal will begin. All communications necessary for the operation of the facility have already been laid.

On 09/07/2015, the director of Odessa International Airport LLC Andrey Shatyuk announced that the commissioning of the new terminal is planned for 06/15/2016. It is also planned to attract volunteers to test the terminal and transfer charter flights at the initial stage of its operation. In the near future, the installation of the facade and landscaping of the surrounding areas will be completed, after which the interior decoration of the building will begin.

A little earlier, the management of a budget airline Wizz Air expressed its interest in resuming cooperation with Odessa Airport. However, this will not happen until the construction of a new terminal and runway is completed at the airport.

On September 10, 2015, Minister of Infrastructure Andrei Pivovarsky stated that the construction of a new runway for the Odessa airport, which is 75% owned by a private company, given the priority of this project for the region, will be financed from the state budget. Construction could begin in 2016 and end in 2017. The issue of both the construction of a new runway and the reconstruction of the old one is being considered. The project is estimated at $80-200 million. Negotiations are currently underway to find the necessary funds. With whom, however, it is not specified.

At the beginning of April 2016, the installation of the general sewage system of the terminal was completed, which made it possible to complete the final filling of 2/3 of the floor area of the first floor. Ventilation, smoke removal and fire extinguishing systems are being installed. The installation of transition galleries between the terminal building and the jet bridge receivers is being completed. The metal structures of the galleries are assembled on the ground, and then they are installed to the terminal and receivers using cranes. By the end of this month, it is planned to complete the installation of electrical networks, fire alarms, water supply and sewerage systems on the floors.

As of early June, the terminal was 70% ready and will be put into operation in September. From now on, it will operate in test mode for 2-3 months, accepting domestic flights. The terminal will be fully operational in March 2017, when the work of the international checkpoint will be fully organized.

“The construction of the terminal is approaching its final stage.

Today there is a question about the need to build a new runway. This week I plan to appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Minister of Infrastructure with a request to provide funds in the state budget for these purposes,” Gennady Trukhanov commented on the results of the working meeting.

In October 2016, the Odessa city administration came close to receiving government funding for the construction of a new runway. The mayor said that he discussed the issue of financing with Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman and Minister of Transport Andrei Pivovarsky. At the meeting, a roadmap of actions was developed that will allow work to begin in the near future. The construction of a new runway will cost 1.6 billion hryvnia. In addition to the coating, it is planned to install modern equipment that will allow aircraft to be accepted in adverse weather conditions.

At the end of January 2016, the terminal was put into operation, however, according to the mayor, the terminal will begin accepting flights no earlier than the spring of 2017, and only domestic ones. The terminal was accepted by experts from Kyiv, and the facility is now expected to be accepted by local authorities.

The issue of allocating funds for the construction of a new runway is also being decided, which the city plans to begin in 2017 and complete by 2018. The estimated duration of the project is 26 months.

Launch of a new terminal

On April 15, 2017, the new terminal began serving domestic flights. The first was airline flight 0057 UIA from Boryspil. The terminal will also receive Motor Sich airline flights from Kyiv airport.
